GATE VALVE SPECIFICATION
2024.08.05
1. Gate valve has the following advantages:
1. Low fluid resistance.
2. The flow direction of the medium is not restricted.
3. The body shape is relatively simple, and the casting process is good.
4. When fully opened, the erosion of the sealing surface by the working medium is smaller than that of the shut-off valve.
5. The external force required for opening and closing is small.
2. the gate valve also has shortcomings:
1. The overall size and opening height are large. The installation requires a large amount of space.
2. In the process of opening and closing, there is relative friction between the sealing surfaces, which is easy to cause abrasion.
3. Gate valves generally have two sealing surfaces, which add some difficulties to processing, grinding and maintenance.
3. According to the structure of the gate valve, the gate valve can be divided into:
(1) Parallel gate valve: the sealing surface is parallel to the vertical centerline, that is, the two sealing surfaces are parallel to each other. In the parallel gate valve, the structure with thrust wedge is the most common, which has a double-sided thrust wedge between the two gates, which is suitable for low-pressure small and medium-diameter (DN40-300mm) gate valves. There are also springs between the two rams, and the springs can generate tight force, which is conducive to the sealing of the rams.
(2) Wedge gate valve: the sealing surface is at a certain angle to the vertical centerline, that is, the two sealing surfaces are wedge-shaped. The inclination angle of the sealing surface is generally 2°52 ́, 3°30 ́, 5°, 8°, 10°, etc., and the size of the angle mainly depends on the temperature of the medium. In general, the higher the operating temperature, the larger the angle should be taken to reduce the possibility of wedge in the event of temperature changes.
